Who we are.

What is BIMUN/SINUB?

BIMUN/SINUB stands for Bonn International Model United Nations / Simulation Internationale des Nations Unies de Bonn. We are a non-profit student association at the University of Bonn – run entirely by volunteers. Every year we organise our own international MUN conference in Bonn. Throughout the year, we offer trainings, get-togethers, trips, delegations to other conferences and our Lecture Series.

The Executive Committee

The ExCom is the heart of BIMUN/SINUB. Every year, a new team of students takes over the association – and with it, everything we do. They keep our association life going, from trainings and get-togethers to delegations and our Lecture Series. At the same time, they spend the year bringing our international conference to life: finding speakers and partners, raising funds and welcoming delegates from all over the world. You don’t need to be an expert to join – what counts is the motivation to build something together. Everyone focuses on one or two of our nine departments:

• Presidency

• Finance

• Fundraising

• Events

• PR & Media

• Association Life

• Participants

• Green Conference

• Lecture Series

The Advisory Board

Our Advisory Board brings together former ExCom members who have stayed close to BIMUN/SINUB. Elected for three years, they keep the long-term vision in view: while every ExCom has just one year, the Advisory Board makes sure that what has grown over more than two decades is carried forward. They advise and support the ExCom and pass on their experience.

Our Members

And it all starts with our members – a colourful mix of people. Some have been to many MUNs and are happy to share what they know; others come to us without any experience at all – which is exactly how most of us started. We learn from each other and grow together. At the General Assembly, every member has a vote: together, they elect the ExCom and the Advisory Board and decide on the direction of our association.

Signature of BIMUN

A great community – and a conference that comes as close as possible to real international diplomacy.

A place for connections

Meet students from many disciplines and countries – at debates, trainings and expert talks, but also at our gettogethers, parties and trips. You grow your skills, think beyond your own field and make friends along the way.

Bonn – the UN City

Bonn is home to many UN organisations. We bring this into our work – with UN partners, visits to the UN Campus and the UN Day.

Professional speakers

Experts and decision-makers at our conference and in our weekly Lecture Series – real dialogue with people from the field.

Beginner-friendly

No experience needed – most of us started from zero. Our trainings and experienced members guide you step by step, from your first speech to your first conference.

Trilingual committee

At our conference, one committee debates in English, French and Spanish – with simultaneous interpretation by students of TH Köln. Very few MUNs offer this.

Professional venue

Our conference takes place in a real conference centre, not in classrooms – as close as possible to the real thing.

Green Conference

We keep our footprint small and offset our emissions, use sustainable materials and make vegetarian food the default.
