„This motion passes!“ This year’s debate in the UN Human Rights Council at our three-day Association Weekend 2019 dealt with ‚LGBT+ Rights‘. BIMUN/SINUB members discussed discrimination against minorities of sexual/identity orientation and the lifting of criminalization. Therefore, participants stepped into the shoes of pro-LGBT+ as well as homophobic countries in order to learn about the different positions and ‚argumentative‘ approaches of the countries. After the debate a resolution was passed condemning (at least) death penalty for the LGBT+ community.

In addition to the debate training, the weekend also consisted of fun and games. Highlights were the hike to the Aggertalsperre in bright sunshine and with summer temperatures as well as some teambuilding activities and games so that we got to know each other better. In the evenings, we had a delicious barbecue and a curry dish.

A successful, fun, but also physically demanding weekend lies behind us and we are looking forward to next year’s Members Weekend! 🙂
