Carmen, Marcus and Marina

Bonn International Model United Nations / Simulation Internationale des Nations Unies de Bonn / Simulación Internacional de las Naciones Unidas de Bonn ( this is what BIMUN/SINUB stands for 😉 ) is very proud to have once again a trilingual committee at the MUN conference in Bonn. This year, the trilingual G20 committee will be chaired in English, French and Spanish by Carmen, Marcus and Marina.
Of course, the committee will be not only supported but enriched by our partner, the interpreters of Technische Hochschule Köln! 😀

Carmen is a fourth year Law student at the University of Salamanca (Spain). In high school she fell in love with MUNUSAL, her university’s MUN conference. Since then, she has devoted a lot of her time to debating and chairing in MUNs. She has organized the last two editions of MUNUSAL as President of the association. In these conferences Carmen has learned some English and international law, but, most importantly, she has become more aware of her privileges.

When not organizing MUNs, attending MUNs or thinking about MUNs, Carmen likes reading, coloring books, the Sims and listening to bad jokes. She is also passionate about learning languages, which is why she is particularly excited about chairing the G20 of BIMUN/SINUB 2018.

Marcus is in his fourth year at California State University, Long Beach, where he studies history, focusing on the history of the United States and Modern Europe. Born in Taiwan, and raised in Italy, he now resides in California. Experiencing what the world has to offer has been an important factor in his life, having studied abroad in Argentina, Italy (after moving to the US), and Israel. Marcus is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian.

Marcus has been actively involved in Model United Nations for almost four years, having participated and chaired conferences around the United States, at BIMUN last year, as well as NTUMUN in Singapore. Politics has always been a passion of his, and is something he greatly enjoys pursuing both inside and outside of Model United Nations. In addition to being the president of CSU Long Beach’s Model UN club, Marcus has been a poll worker for US elections, as well as volunteered for political campaigns, and currently interns for a US congressman.

Marina is an Economic student at the University of Sevilla. Born and raised in Spain, the international context has been one of her motivations since the beginning of her educational background. She finished a double French-Spanish Baccalaureate and has been living in Ireland and Belgium, travelling in the meanwhile to discover as many cities and cultures as possible, which is, for sure, one of her passions.
She speaks Spanish, French and English fluently and is now learning German. She has been a support teacher on “Economy of the European Union” for foreign students and has given high school conferences related to the EU. Believing in the transformative power of MUN, Marina has participated as chair and delegate in some conferences in Europe and is currently engaged in a volunteering project abroad, as she aims to specialise in development economics, topic on which she will be wholeheartedly willing to share her motivation.
