Conference
Since 2002, the BIMUN/SINUB Conference is exclusively organized by students. We are proud to annually welcome 170 delegates from up to 50 countries in Germany’s UN City Bonn. Against this background, BIMUN/SINUB e.V. sets a high value on facilitating the participation of delegates from developing countries by providing travel grants and general support. During the conference, participants take on the role of a foreign diplomat and shall not represent their home country. It is our distinct aim to promote tolerance and openness towards the views of others.
Topics and Committees
Our participants discuss pressing and controversial issues of international concern in fields such as international law, sustainable development, health, migration, gender equality, economy or security. During their preparation our participants learn about the culture, history and foreign policy of the countries they represent. In order to guarantee fruitful debates on a certain academic level, we provide extensively researched background material for our delegates.

A unique feature of the BIMUN/SINUB Conference is the simulation of a main political body of the European Union. In addition, we offer a bilingual working experience to our participants. Next to English as an official working language in all committees, French is used in at least one of our simulated institutions. We mutually cooperate with the Institute of Translation and Multilingual Communication at Cologne University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule Köln) for several years.
The UN City of Bonn
Bonn has made a name for itself as the German UN City and is home to 19 agencies of the United Nations. Numerous federal institutions and organizations working in the fields of sustainable development and development cooperation have established themselves in Bonn, which makes the city the perfect location for the BIMUN/SINUB Conference. Bonn serves as a conference destination for various sustainability topics, from climate change mitigation to education for sustainable development. In the past three years, the conference took place in a historical conference venue: the World Conference Center Bonn is located in the facilities of the former German Parliament, an important symbol of German democracy. BIMUN/SINUB e.V. commits itself to represent and enhance the diversity of the international scenery in Germany’s UN City Bonn with both our annual conference and our lecture series at the University of Bonn. To this end, we successfully work with the City of Bonn and various companies and organizations operating on the local, federal and international level.
