Getting There
How do I get to Bonn?
There are several options of getting to Bonn: You can travel by plane, by train, by bus, by car or even by boat.
Train:
If you travel by train, your destination should be Bonn Hauptbahnhof (central station).
Some trains stop at “Siegburg/Bonn” station (e.g. the ICE fast train from Frankfurt Airport), from where your connection to Bonn Hauptbahnhof (central station) is subway line No. 66.
As trains might be crowded, we recommend to reserve a seat in advance.
Bus:
Long-distance busses connect Cologne and Bonn with most Eastern and Western European countries, and even with North Africa. They are a rather cheap alternative to a journey by train, although they are not as comfortable. After arriving in Cologne (you will arrive near the central station), buy a ticket for the local train (RE/RB) to Bonn. For further information on long-distance busses check out: Eurolines.
Plane:
The closest airports to Bonn are Cologne/Bonn Airport (20 minutes by bus), Düsseldorf (about 1 hour by train) and Frankfurt Airport (about 1 hour by train).
From Cologne/Bonn Airport simply take the bus No. 670 to Bonn Hauptbahnhof (central station).
Most flights originating from overseas or other non-European destinations arrive at Frankfurt/Main International Airport, from where you have several options of getting to Bonn: the high-speed ICE train (less than 1 h) to Siegburg (continue your journey with the local subway No. 66 to Bonn Hauptbahnhof), or the cheaper IC Train (2 h) directly to Bonn (for train schedules see Deutsche Bahn). There is also a direct bus-link from Frankfurt to Cologne.
From Düsseldorf Airport take the local train RE 5 (1:15 h) to Bonn.
Note: Be aware that “Frankfurt-Hahn” Airport (destination for Ryan Air) is not Frankfurt/Main International Airport.
